I am a graphic designer and educator, teaching graphic design at the University of Florida where I have been teaching since 1997. I teach upper division and graduate courses in graphic design with a specialization in social design, typography, semiotics, and design research.
My research focus has two threads: 1/ the visual representation of cultural identity and 2/ design for development and social design. In 2004 I founded Design for Development (D4D) as an extension of my earlier interdisciplinary partnerships in Mexico. With D4D we collaborate with people from diverse communities and disciplines to design sustainable solutions for development.
