TYPEFACE DESIGN royalRed Inspired by the life and patterns of the salmon and specifically the Red Royal brand Salmon label, royalRed is made up of parts and layers which are mutable and constantly changing. Just as salmon instinctually swim upstream to spawn and lose parts of their physical self on the journey, royalRed’s forms are full-bodied and directional to evoke the spirit of the salmon, and designed with modular parts – to be added, subtracted or made (in)visible with intention. It’s inline nature functions as the framework upon which multiple and varied layers of skin are applied. royalRed, a typeface with instinct, strength and energy. scheduled for release in february 2003.
